The Accolade
Edmund Blair Leighton, 1901
Price range: $30.00 through $50.00
The Accolade recalls the romantic ideal of medieval chivalry — a brave knight taking an oath to honor and fight on behalf of his beloved.
The scene glows with beauty, but there’s tension too. In the midst of the intimate moment, the harsh line of the sword reminds you that the knight must soon do battle. Words only go so far — only by proving his bravery can he become worthy of his lady.
Coming down from the high ideals of chivalry, the painting asks you one practical and simple question: after the sights and sounds of pageantry fade, will you be ready to do the work and fight for what you love?
Note: To keep costs as low as we can for you, we work with various high quality printers throughout the US and Europe. Your print will be shipped from the printer located closest to you. For this reason, you might see two shipping costs at check-out: one for coffee (shipped from our roastery) and one for art prints.
